As a residential glazier/lead installer at Lake Glass & Mirror, Inc., you will be responsible for measuring, fabricating, and installing glass to meet our client’s specifications while adhering to safety regulations and industry standards. You will need to be very familiar with various types of glass and the techniques used to install them. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential glazing and knowledge of all glazing systems. They will have a professional appearance and mannerisms, be detail-oriented, have strong communication skills, and have the ability to work as a team.

Responsibilities:

Glass Handling and Installation:

  • Measure, cut, and fabricate glass according to client specifications.
  • Ensure accuracy and precision in all fabrication and installation processes.
  • Select appropriate tools and techniques for each task.
  • Conduct calibration checks on measuring and installation tools.
  • Load and unload glass panels as required by project needs.
  • Remove old glass pieces with caution to prevent injuries.
  • Safely install glass panels in residential structures.
  • Ensure installations meet durability and longevity standards.

Specialization in Heavy Glass Shower Enclosures:

  • Design and install heavy glass shower enclosures according to client preferences and design specifications.
  • Proficiency in handling and installing tempered glass panels for shower enclosures of various sizes and configurations.
  • Expertise in specialized hardware and fixtures required for heavy glass shower enclosures.
  • Collaborate with clients to provide recommendations on design options, glass types, and hardware selections for optimal aesthetic appeal and functionality.
  • Ensure precision and accuracy in measuring, fabrication, and installation processes to achieve seamless and durable shower enclosures.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, innovations, and best practices related to heavy glass shower enclosure installation techniques and materials.

Client Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintain punctuality for appointments and uphold clear communication with clients.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and team members to ensure project clarity and satisfaction.
  • Provide advice and address concerns throughout the installation process.
  • Conduct site evaluations to assess installation requirements and challenges.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to company processes, policies, and safety protocols at all times.

  • Conduct safety briefings and ensure adherence to safety regulations.

Tool Management and Workplace Organization:

  • Select appropriate tools for each task based on materials and project requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workspace and company vehicle.
  • Possess and maintain necessary tools for the job.

Team Supervision and Training:

  • Supervise, train, and support assistant/apprentice glaziers.
  • Ensure team members have the necessary skills and knowledge for effective performance.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to enhance team efficiency and project completion.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Collaborate with the Shop/Fleet Manager to ensure proper vehicle maintenance and any quality control issues that may arise.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as documenting project details, material and tools needed, and materials used.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a glazier in residential settings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to adapt to new software.
  • Proficient in Smart Glazier and/or Showers Online software a plus.
  • Capability to interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and measuring devices.
  • Physical fitness to lift objects up to 100 pounds and frequent lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent vision and hearing (either naturally or corrected).
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Willingness to work in varying temperature conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screening.

As a residential assistant/apprentice glazier at Lake Glass & Mirror, Inc., you will have the chance to learn the trade and grow into the Lead Glazier position. You will learn to be very familiar with various types of glass and the techniques used to install them. The role of the glazier is physically demanding, so you should be fit enough to carry large objects and capable of spending most of the day working on your feet. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and energetic individual with a strong desire to learn the trade and become a glazing professional. They will have a professional appearance and mannerisms, be detail-oriented, have strong communication skills, and have the ability to work as a team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Measure and cut glass to ensure it meets the client’s specifications

• Install the glass where it’s needed, using caution to ensure that the installation lasts for as long as possible

• Load and unload glass panels as dictated by project needs

• Remove old pieces of glass from doors, windows, and displays using safety precautions to ensure no one gets injured

• Be punctual to all appointments and communicate directly with the client before the appointment time when you can’t

• Follow all company processes, policies, procedures, and safety precautions

• Take measures to protect the clients’ property and belongings

• Site Evaluation: Visiting residential properties to assess the condition and requirements of the glass installation. This involves examining the existing structures, identifying any potential challenges, and making sure they correspond to the details given by the Measurement Technician

• Select appropriate tools for each job based on the type of material being installed, the degree of accuracy required, and other factors

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace and vehicle

• Maintain professional and courteous behavior toward clients, contractors, and other team members

• Possess the required tools including, but not limited to, tape measure, screwdrivers of various sizes and styles, pry bar, putty knives, caulk gun, rubber mallet, hammer, dead blow, plumb and level devices, glass cutter, pliers, snips, etc.

• Perform calibration checks on measuring and installation tools to ensure they are working properly

• Work with the Lead Glaziers to complete your training manual and observe their interactions with clients, contractors, and other team members, whenever possible, to prepare yourself for the future

• Other duties as assigned

• Overnight travel may be required for training events and/or special projects
